Labor Day Weekend and Hearts of Gold Festival

Labor Day weekend, we decided to take the family to Fallon Nevada for the Hearts of Gold Festival, it's basically a canatloup festival. We have never been before so we thought we'd see what it was all about. Basically it was a bunch of red necks having a good time! They had a small carnival, so just a few rides and we let each get ride one ride, then we had some ice cream, they had cantaloup flavor and then vanilla, the cantaloup was pretty good but I wouldn't eat it all the time. We watched this guy do some juggling, I didn't have my camera for that, it was pretty neat, he even juggled with fire!! After that we walked around and found a Mud Volleyball tournament going on.

They also had a greased pig that the kids try to catch, they didn't actually grease it so it wasn't that much of a challenge. They had a little petting farm but we didn't pay for that we just looked the animals and took pictures.

Before we left the festival the kids wanted to ride the Bull!! Ok so only Paul, Emily, and Krista rode it, then someone gave us another ticket to ride and Aaron rode it.

It was a pretty fun afternoon. One thing I love about Reno is that there is always something going on during the summer. That same day there was also the rib cook off in Sparks, we've been to that before but it's kind of expensive so we didn't go this year. Also last weekend was the Balloon races in Reno and Camel Races in Virginia City. This weekend they have the Air Show in Stead, basically fighter jets and other airplanes fly around and it's pretty cool. The Reno area always has something going on, it's great!
