Found Guilty

The victim: McKenzie's elbow
The accused party: The trampoline
Date of accident: Friday, April 25th
Time of accident: Approx. 6:30 PM
Results of accident: Broken Elbow
I love trampolines and I love that my kids love trampolines. It's bound to happen a time or two and I'm ok with a few injuries here and there. Kenzie just happen to land on her arm the wrong way and she hurt her arm while jumping. After inspecting her arm, it didn't hurt too bad for me to touch it. She did complain that it hurt to twist her arm and she couldn't raise her arm very high. I just told her to take it easy and that it was probably sprained or a muscle was pulled.

Saturday rolled around and her arm was swollen a little bit. Her fingers were also swollen as well. She was still favoring her arm and kept it right up against her belly all weekend. I didn't think it was broken but I had dreams all night that something could be wrong with her arm and we didn't fix it and she didn't have an arm when she was older. (Silly dreams sometimes). So, this morning I took her into the dr to have it looked at.

The first dr. was not my normal dr. that I usually go to. I wasn't very impressed with his abilities. He looked at the x-rays and said he didn't think it was broken. He then twisted her arm some more asking if it hurt. I wanted to slap him up side the head for twisting her arm as much as he was. He then worried that it might be dislocated and referred me to an orthopedic surgeon. GREAT! Another dr. to go to.We headed right over since they were available right then. The dr. took one look at the x-ray and said, "Yep! It's broken all right!" Imagine that! So, he told me that they would just splint the arm since elbows are very unforgiving things. He figures she'll have the splint on for 2 1/2 weeks and we'll go back and see how it looks. It was a long morning and I was glad to head back home after noon. Kenzie opted not to go back to school since we were gone for most of the day and she missed lunch. Mayci and I ate lunch with Kenzie and then the 2 girls got in a nap.

What a tuff little girl I have! I'm sure this won't be the only broken bone we have from her!
