Pioneer Day Celebrations!

On Satuday morning, my good friend Jen and I left at 5 AM to head to SLC to run the Deseret News 10K. The race started at 6 AM up at the U of U Research Park. We took this picture after we parked the car....it was still quite dark!
We had a great time running. We finished the 6.2 miles in 56 Min 55 Seconds. It was a great race, there were tons of people there, and we got to run the last 2 miles to Liberty Park along the Days of '47 parade route! We were home by 8:30 and we were feeling pretty good!
Since Nick had to work that morning, Krista was nice enough to stay with the kids. They were all asleep when I got home, so I took advantage of it and got ready for the day. After they woke up and we had breakfast and lunch, we headed to Hogan Park to take pictures of Krista. She was a great model!!!
After taking pictures, we got a snow cone at the Apple and ate it at the park under the shade of the trees. It was a HOT day!!!! So when we got home, Carson asked if they could wash the trampoline and play in the water...so of course I said yes!!!After that we laid int he shade and the girls painted their toe nails and fingernails! It was fun! Grandma and Grandpa Brower came to pick up Krista and had dinner with us. We grilled hamburgers and chicken nuggets, yum! After it got a little darker, we headed down to the McKay's house for some fireworks with our neighbors.
There were quite a few neighbors that were there! It was so fun to see the kids enjoy the fireworks.
Even Nick had a lot of fun with the sparklers!
Kaylee enjoyed some sparklers, but after about 45 minutes she was begging me to go home and go to bed, so I took her home and put her to bed. She was exhausted. We played so hard the past few days, that I think she was just all tuckered out! It was a great weekend we had celebrating Pioneer Day! I love the memories that are made on these fun holidays!

Bountiful Handcart Days!

On Friday, after playing at the park with our friends, we celebrated Bountiful Handcart Days at the Bountiful Park.
Krista was able to come with us and we enjoyed the afternoon playing on bounce houses, slides, going fishing, and eating a snow cone!
Carson got a car and Kaylee got a necklace from the fish pond.
After Nick got home from working overtime, we had homemade pizza for dinner and then headed up to Main Street to watch the parade. I went at 8:30 that morning to save us a spot, and after driving up and down it twice, I found a spot perfect for three chairs! We were on the east side of the street, so not in the shade, but luckily we had our new canopy to keep us somewhat shaded from the hot sun!
The kids loved the parade! The UHP Motorcycles were quite exciting that night! We were watching them and as they were doing a criss cross maneuver one of the HP's was going down the middle of the formation very fast, and ended up colliding with a motorcycle and then shooting off into the crowd on the side of the street. It happened right in front of us and was pretty scary. But Carson said that was his favorite part. There were no serious injuries luckily, but it was still a little scary to watch. But the parade continued and after 2 1/2 hours and a bag full of candy later, it finally came to an end.
The kids got so much candy, toys, water bottles, otter pops, and we even got a glass slipper for Kaylee!
It was 8:30 when we got done watching the parade. We headed home, bathed the kids, and then headed up by Mueller Park Jr High to watch the fireworks. A friend that Nick works with lives right across the street from the school, so we were able to park in his driveway and have our own little private lawn and area to watch the fireworks from. The fireworks were great! They were so close to us that they were right above our heads and very loud! The kids stayed awake the whole time! I was impressed!
It was a very long, tiring, but FUN day!! Can't wait to do it again next year!

Last Pictures with Uncle Chris

These were the last pictures taken with Uncle Chris- well, for at least 2 years anyway. We left Utah on Thursday morning (July 1) after saying goodbyes and getting some good hugs in. It was a fun filled week with him and I'm glad that we had a few extra days with him. It will be fun to compare these pictures with the ones we'll take when he gets home from his mission! My kids will all miss their Uncle and so will I. It's worth it though when we get letters from him hearing of his success and hearing his testimony! He's a wonderful example to my kids and to me. I'm so lucky to have him as my brother. He'll make a great dad someday soon! Until then, we'll just enjoy him as an Elder serving in Brazil!

We love you Uncle Chris!!!

July Birthdays

After spending a day on Temple Square, we all headed back to Brittany's house so we could have dinner. After dropping the kids off at the house, all of the girls (minus the younger ones) and Chris all went to see Eclipse. We didn't make it to the midnight showing but it's a good thing we didn't. We had played pretty hard up to this point and probably would have been too tired to watch the movie. We made it to the 4:20 pm showing and we loved it!

After the movie, we went to Britt's to get kids and mostly to sing to all of those that had a July birthday! We have 4 of them on this side of the family alone. We stuck a candle in the cake and let each kid take their turn blowing out the candle. We re-lit it each time. I think Carson thought that was pretty cool!

Sierra's birthday is July 10- she turned 16!
Carson's was July 15. He turned 5.
Kenzie's is July 21. She will be 7! Can that be??
Krista's is the 27th. She will be 14- I believe. I better check on that one!

I love summertime! I love hanging out with family and eating and laughing! I love knowing that my kids will have some great memories because of weeks like this! I'm lucky to have my family and Justin's family to create these memories with! We always have so much fun when we get together and I know that we don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to have that fun!
Families are the best!

Week in Utah Part 4

Tuesday was a relaxing day. We had 1/2 of the kids that wanted to go to a movie and the other 1/2 wanted to swim. We did both! We headed to Brigham City to watch Toy Story 3 and we LOVED IT!!!!! I cried. All the adults cried! Very cute show! After the movie we headed to the natatorium to get some swimming in! The kids loved jumping off the diving boards and we got in a few games of water basketball speed (Lightning).

We had movie night later after dinner and it was nice to just hangout doing nothing!

Wednesday was our day down in SLC. We headed out around 9:30 or so. We packed a lunch and made our way down to Liberty Park to have a picnic. There were WAY too many people there. We didn't spend very long playing but it was nice to get outside and enjoy a picnic!
Austin, Paul and Braydon were good buds the whole week. (Braydon is the one taking most of the pictures!)
Here's the gang all waiting to get their food!

We all enjoyed the cookies! Mayci had her fair share of cookies that day!

For some reason, Tiff ended up with 3 pops in her posession! She couldn't remember which one was hers and she didn't know how she ended up with all of them! (I personally think that she was really drinking all of them and blamed the kids. Silly Tiff!)
After lunch we headed to Temple Square! It was a hot afternoon, like 100 degrees!!!! It probably wasn't the best idea to tour Temple Square but it sure was fun with the group we were with! There is never a lack of laughter when we all get together!
Our first stop was a tour of the conference center. We thought that would be a good way to stay cool and we were right. I love air-conditioned buildings. Our tour group consisted of our family and a very cute couple. I've been on a tour before and been to many concerts there. My mom on the other hand has never toured the Conference Center. That was kind of funny to us since she sings there every week and does many concerts there, you'd think they'd show them the place! She just sees all of the parts that we don't get to see on the tour. The tour guide was good and had all of the boys stepping only on the shiny squares on the ground and the girls only stepping on the light gray squares. That, of course, made us laugh more!
This isn't the best picture but it's Austin's favorite story, the 2,000 stripling warriors!

Uncle Chris was so good with these 2 girls. They kept running around and so we decided to strap them into the stroller. Uncle Chris was so good at keeping them in the stroller and entertained at the same time! (The girls needed a drink and instead of getting them out of the stroller, he lifted the stroller up and pushed the button on the drinking fountain. Tiff and I just laughed and helped push the button while he lifted first one side of the stroller, and then the other! What a character!!!)
This was at the end of our tour! The top of the Conference Center is so amazing. The gardens and the fountains are something you just don't picture being at the top of a building!
We made it to the top of the Joseph Smith building. That place brings back good memories since that is where Justin proposed to me! Now I have 5 beautiful kids and an amazing husband to create new memories with! Too bad that Justin wasn't there for this fun memory. We did get Uncle Chris in this memory though!
Here's 4 of the 5 kids. Brittany, Marisa, Chris, Tiffany and Grandma Joy!
What's a fountain picture without kids?? Yes, they got wet! They had fun playing in it!
While we watched the kids playing in the fountain, we saw Alex Boye come out of the restaraunt with his fiance. Since he sings in the choir with mom, she had to stop and introduce her kids and grandkids. We were lucky and got a picture with him!!
Our last stop on Temple Square was the South Visitors Center! This is the neatest thing! They have a doll size replica of the SLC Temple. It shows all of the rooms and the staircases. It's amazing and worth a visit if you're down in the SLC area.
These 2 girls did great but they were ready to go home at this point!
So was everyone else! All of the walking and the heat wore us out in a hurry!
I love spending time on Temple Square, regardless the weather. It's an amazing feeling as you walk the grounds and look at all of the beauty that our Heavenly Father has blessed us with.
